Scott Jennings (b. 1988, England) studied dance and theatre at The BRIT School before receiving a BA (Hons) degree from London Contemporary Dance School.

He began his career in the UK, performing with Matthew Bourne, Maxine Doyle, Luca Silvestrini, Suzy Willson and Melly Still, among others. In 2012, he moved to Germany to join Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Over six years as a full-time company member, he toured internationally and performed leading roles in many of Bausch’s seminal works.

Since 2018, Jennings has worked internationally as a freelance artist. As a performer, he has appeared in works by Dimitris Papaioannou, Lloyd Newson, Robert Wilson and Alexandra Waierstall. Alongside performing, he is active as a teacher, stager, rehearsal director and maker.

Scott’s own work looks at the meeting of dance and theatre. He draws inspiration from dance makers, theatre directors, visual artists and circus performers. His work is collaborative in nature and is frequently developed through games, scenarios and improvisations, guided by questions and reflection. At its core, his practice seeks to expand how we relate to one another and understand ourselves as human beings. Theatre, movement and performance become platforms for the mundane, the obvious, the extraordinary and the absurd.

For the Pina Bausch Foundation, Scott has contributed to the re-staging of The Rite of Spring (Staatsballett Berlin & Teatro alla Scala, Milan), Adagio – Five Songs by Gustav Mahler (Hamburg Ballet) and Kontakthof (National Theatre of Greece). He has also worked as touring rehearsal director on Kontakthof – Echoes of ’78, a new encounter with Bausch’s classic by Meryl Tankard.
